1.1.0 - Lots of General Tweaks and Fixes


I think most of the systems have been at least slightly adjusted in this update, so the full list of changes is pretty long, but the over all game feel/difficulty shouldn't be too much different. The knockback on the grapple make it feel way more satisfying, and I think everything just feels more smooth and flows better overall. Anyway here's a relatively complete list of what things exactly have been changed.

Grapple Changes:

  • Grappling hook shoots out and retracts faster, so missing is a little less punishing
  • There's knockback when you finish a grapple, so you can retreat easier, and it just feels satisfying
  • Grapple can break spiral bullets now (but only with the front hook bit)

Boss/Enemy/Level Changes:

  • Crab Boss
    • Claws spiral bullets have bigger spirals and shoot less often and there's a delay and indication when the claws change attack patterns, so they should be a little easier to dodge.
    • Crown attack has big bullets down the middle, so you can't just spam grapple and not get hit
  • The Miniboss shoot everything from the same side, instead of the spread shot from on side, and mine from the other (also the mine's path is a little different)
  • Slightly adjusted the health for miniboss phases
  • Mines stop moving when you grapple them, and won't blow up if you shoot them while grappling (Same with the mine dropping enemies)
  • Completely changed the order/locations of all the enemies in level 5, so it has more flow
  • Slightly adjusted a couple other enemy locations
  • You  might not want to play too slowly anymore ;)

Scoring Changes:

  • Stage bonus decreases faster at higher loops
  • Reduced the stage bonus for a bunch of levels

Graphics Changes:

  • Combo meter is rendered on top of the bar underneath like it's supposed to
  • Stage bonus gets added to you score a few points at a time at the end of a level instead of all at once, so it should be more obvious that is there/what its doing
  • The starting chest shouldn't randomly turn white anymore (hopefully)

Other changes:

  • The game has an actual icon now instead of using the default monogame one
  • Tutorial text changes to match your input type
  • There's 2 starting chests, and they can always be shot, so it should be easier to figure out the mechanics
  • You can now use any button on the controller to play the game (you can even play 1 handed!)
  • Added in dev highscores that will auto generate if the highscores.txt isn't found (if you want to remove them you can just replace their scores/names with other ones in the file though)
  • Later levels of higher loops (loop 3+) will be harder now, and it should actually loop infinitely
  • Grapple invincibility won't cancel your hit invincibility if it's lower
  • Possibly some other things I forgot to mention
